Assistance Guild of Colorado Springs was founded in 1968 with approximately 40 original members. The Guild became Assistance League of Colorado Springs in 1970 and was incorporated as the 52nd chapter of National Assistance League. The Pikes Peak Auxiliary joined Assistance League of Colorado Springs in 1993 and was certified in 1995. Together, over 230 highly motivated members bring a variety of experience and a wealth of enthusiasm to their service in the Pikes Peak area.

Funding for ALCS philanthropic Programs comes from the following sources:·
  • Gifts and grants
  • ALCS thrift store named Bargain Box
  • Annual Auto Show sponsored by the Colorado Springs Automobile Dealers Association (CSADA) with The Gazette newspaper as a presenting sponsor
Annual funds raised by Assistance League chapters go directly back into individual communities for Programs selected by the specific chapter. ALCS does not receive government funding and has not applied for United Way funding. The all-volunteer status of the chapter means that funds raised directly benefit the local community it serves with minimum overhead for operating expenses.
